Soviet Army Overcoat Felt Boots (Burki), USSR Grey Wool Military Valenki Boots

In cold seasons, Burki are essential footwear. They are as warm as traditional felt boots (valenki), but significantly more practical and comfortable for everyday work.

The upper is made from dense Soviet military overcoat felt, known for its exceptional strength and durability. This material provides full wind protection and water resistance. Overcoat felt does not ignite when exposed to sparks — it smolders slowly — making these boots suitable for welders and workers near open flame.

The 100% wool felt offers excellent thermal insulation and retains heat even in extreme frost. Being a natural material, it allows feet to breathe, preventing sweating during prolonged wear.

To improve heat retention, the interior features:

• Two layers of cotton batting

• Thick artificial fur lining

• All layers securely stitched together with heavy thread

The heel area is reinforced with leather-vinyl inserts, protecting the boots from wear caused by galoshes and extending service life.

Use with Galoshes (Recommended):

In winter conditions with melting snow and puddles, rubber galoshes are a necessary addition.
They protect the boots from moisture, slush, and dirt while maintaining comfort during long wear.

The galoshes are made from high-quality rubber compound that:

• Withstands temperatures down to –30 °C

• Does not harden or crack in frost

• Features a special tread pattern that prevents slipping on snow and ice

• Does not trap dirt or small stones

Thanks to their smooth shape, galoshes require minimal maintenance and are easily washed with water.
