The MN-61 (Russian: МН-61) was a military desktop audio wire recorder, developed in 1961 by the VILMA National Devices Factory in Vilnius (Latvia, USSR). As the audio is recorded on to a very thin wire rather than to a tape, it has a recording time of 5.5 hours. The device was built especially for the security services, KGB, Military Aircraft of the former Soviet Union (USSR). The recorder's mechanism was made by the Petrovskovo Works in Novgorod, and was also used in the MS-61B cockpit voice recorder.

The sound carrier is a special wire EI-708A or EI-708., there are line and microphone inputs.
Duration of continuous recording on one cassette - not less than 5.5 hours. The sound carrier rewind time is no more than 34 minutes.
The irregularity of the frequency response at a frequency of 1000 Hz is not worse than 4 dB, when the input signal changes from 10 to 70 V from the input of the radio receiver. Uneven frequency response in the frequency range 300 ... 3000 Hz when the tone controls are set in the middle position, no more than 10 dB. The dynamic range is not less than 30 dB. The nonlinear distortion factor of the recording / playback path is about 10% at a frequency of 1000 Hz. The frequency of the current of erasure and bias is 20 KHz. The output voltage on the 1GD-18 loudspeaker is 1.5 V, on the TA-56M telephones 1.8 V, on the same, but high-impedance (3.2 kOhm) 20 V. The range of tone control is not less than 5 dB.
